The Exploration of Meditation: A Thoughtful Class in Sequim

A Deeper Approach to Meditation at the Dungeness Barn House

There’s a quiet longing many of us feel right now—a desire to slow down, to step away from the noise, and to reconnect with something steady within ourselves.

Meditation is often offered as the answer.
And yet… for many, it can feel frustrating, confusing, or just out of reach.

This upcoming two-part series at the Dungeness Barn House is designed to gently change that.

With Meditation: Learning the WHY and the HOW

We are honored to welcome Carol von Borstel, a certified yoga and meditation teacher who has been guiding classes at the Gardiner Community Center for over 16 years.  Carol is offering her 25 years of meditation experience to our community.

She wants to share what she has discovered - meditation can be a center of refuge and comfort during challenging times.

Carol brings not only experience, but a grounded, thoughtful approach to meditation—one that meets people exactly where they are.

This is not about perfection.
It’s about understanding what gets in the way for you.

Help with the Complex Art of Meditation

What to expect

The class will be structured with input from  Carol as well as practice and reflective journaling at each stage.  Carol will work with students on the hurdles they face as meditators; for example -  breathing, posture and intruding thoughts...........offering helpful suggestions and remedies.

Meditation is often described as simple… but anyone who has tried knows it’s not always easy.

The mind wanders

Thoughts interrupt

Breathing feels unnatural

Stillness can feel uncomfortable

In this class, Carol will work directly with these very real challenges.

Together, you’ll explore:

Why these hurdles happen

How to work with them (not against them)

Practical ways to settle into your own natural rhythm

Each session is thoughtfully structured to include:

Guided instruction using a time-honored technique

Short meditation sessions

Time for reflection and journaling

This combination allows the experience to move beyond theory into something personal, meaningful, and lasting.

A Setting That Supports the Practice

Held in the peaceful loft of the Dungeness Barn House, this class offers more than instruction—it offers atmosphere.

Soft light, quiet surroundings, and a sense of retreat create the perfect environment to turn inward and explore your own inner landscape.
